Gulf Coast Social Services opened the Trappey House in 1984 on Guidry Street in Lafayette.The community home is a 6-bed facility designated for adult men with developmental disabilities.
The Trappey House has 24-hour staff coverage and offers consumers a home-like environment where they can acquire the skills necessary to live as independently as possible in the community.

A comprehensive assessment is completed on each resident of Trappey House at time of entry and annually thereafter. Using the information gathered during the evaluation, the Interdisciplinary
Team creates a treatment plan based on the individual’s strengths, needs, and desired outcomes while a resident of the facility.
Plan goals and objectives are evaluated regularly to measure progress. |
eligibility
Trappey House residents must meet the following requirements:
- Be eligible for Medicaid
- Be a male age 18 years or older
- Have a developmental disability which manifested prior to age 22
